My daughter sent this photo recently (📸 @laurakork My daughter sent this photo recently (📸 @laurakorki ), and I keep returning to it over and over
Leading up to NYE, the city of Geneva, Switzerland Leading up to NYE, the city of Geneva, Switzerland, where I live, was shrouded in cloud for days on end. Day after day after day… Somber, flat, unforgiving skies… In fact, according to the @tdgch , Geneva was experiencing its darkest December in 23 years and its 4th darkest since 1896 when the city’s sunlight first began to be recorded.

(More than once I thought of the Ray Bradbury story, “All Summer in a Day.” 😳)

Unless… you made the steep climb up to the top of one of the mountains surrounding the city, up to above the clouds! Look closely at the fields of white in this pic, taken during our annual Christmas Day hike, that my older daughter is walking towards. That’s clouds, not snow. Up high, the sun was brilliant.

As a writer, I do love a metaphor, so I’m just going to leave that with you all to do whatever you want with, as we head into 2026. Love to all.
