The AWP Experience

For years I’ve been eyeing the massive annual AWP (Association of Writers and Writing Programs) conference, the biggest annual writers conference in the US, unable to attend because of being overseas. I finally made it this March, for AWP 2025. What an amazing event! Meeting up with writer friends I too rarely get to see, balancing the panoply of panels and off-site events, and I could have spent hours (I did spend hours) wandering the stalls chatting with editors I’ve corresponded with over the years but never met in person.
Not only do I now understand what AWP is, I now understand how to do it. So, I guess I have to go back next year…
